Interior Repair Services

A healing touch for your interiors

A personal message from the owner of Interior Repair Services.

Some 15 years ago I was a new mother of two and had visions of actually “raising” my own children.  The common thread in today’s society for women is to work in order to supplement the household income, while someone else (baby-sitters) raises their children.  My thought was to do a job that allowed me the flexibility with my hours and earn enough at part-time work but with full time pay.  This would mean I had to specialize in a work that the community needed but was not already inundated with worker bees performing their task.  I have always felt that with so much of life’s needs there is a “niche” in almost everything.  Where to find that niche with the pay-off for the limited time this wife and mother of two had available, was the question.

I had a family member repairing cigarette burns in automobiles on used car lots.  I picked this technique up quickly, bought some business cards, put together a tool kit and off I went.  Trying to sell my service (as though I had been doing this for years) acting as professional as a woman could in a man’s business.  With prayer (lots and lots of it) and hard work in the face of discouragement, I eventually convinced some dealerships to utilize my ability.  Going from one technique to another - making repairs as decent to the eye as possible, I started to recognize other needs.  I began to be pressed by others to work on their leather furniture and therefore began pushing myself to learn different solutions to address concerns such as vinyl and leather repair, seam re-stitching and so on.  Insisting that I could not work on furniture, a light bulb went off and I asked myself “WHY NOT?”  It was simply that I was a creature of habit.  I had a need to find work to help my urgent financial situation and after doing so I was content.  As the years passed (and I AGED) I felt overwhelmed at the thought hitting the pavement  on the car lots at retirement age.  The cars are like ovens inside during the summer months and the products are difficult to use in the cold winter months.  Deciding to “test” myself and break out of my comfort zone, I did a repair here and there on furniture as the situation would present itself.

Over time, and to my surprise, I found that I had a slight talent for seeing and mixing color.  This benefited my repair work as most furniture repairs required this ability.  Leaving the car lots behind, my business has developed nicely working for furniture companies as well as the individual consumer.  Comfortable and content this work can take me right on into retirement, if necessary.  Oh, and by the way, I HAVE been able to “raise” my own children while helping with our household income.  I continue to have a mobile service in the Memphis Tennessee area and also sell products that I have personally used for years in my business.  Hopefully you can benefit from the use of these products as well.

Sincerely,
